New Poll released: Greens close in on NDP

The wires (specifically Reuters and CP) are reporting that Decima has released a new poll with drastic movement between both the Liberals and the Conservatives but also amongst the smaller parties.

This poll data is so new that even Decima hasn’t posted it to their site yet.  However, here are the results as reported by Reuters and CP:

Con: 36;  Lib: 27;  NDP: 13;  Green: 13;  Bloc: 8 (source)

Green supporters will obviously jump at this poll’s results showing them tied with the NDP.  While it would be hasty to suggest that the Greens are tied with the NDP, one thing that is interesting about this poll is that the Greens are now pulling away from the Bloc Québécois in both trend lines and are now actually flirting with surpassing them by a statistically significant margin in at least their weighted average trend line.

Now, if we can just get the Greens to return to their once-proud leftist roots, we could officially say that for one of the first times in Canadian history, more than a third of Canadians support leftist alternative parties over the two main hyper-capitalist governing parties.   In fact, if the Greens did return to their roots, we could officially say that the three leftist parties combined are bigger than the Liberals and the same size as the Conservatives.

If only wishing made it so.

As for the Liberals, well of course their blogging cheerleader sycophants are at it again trying to explain why they know more about polling methodology than the Decima Corporation.  The last time they were busy explaining why the polling firm Strategic shouldn’t be trusted because they said mean things about their beloved Liberals.  Now it’s Decima that shouldn’t be trusted because they show the Liberals as down (boo f&^%ing hoo).   Just wait, pretty soon ALL the polling firms will be wrong just because Jason Cherniak says so.

I never understood how people could love a party so much that they will convince themselves that they’re experts in polling fields and deny that the clearly more experienced experts know more than they do.  To me these sorts of people — be they Liberals or Conservatives or even New Democrats — are the lowest form of partisan hacks on the face of the planet.  They will throw away evidence that is contradictory to their precious ideology like the Church did with science historically.

Anyhow, with this poll, the Paulitics Polling Resource shows the party standings as:

I realize it’s a lot of work to cut and paste the Green Party over into the proper spot in the graph, so I just won’t say anything about that ;-)

And I agree with you there. Instead of evaluating what they are doing that Canadians don’t want, they assume all of Canada is wrong about how corrupt/inept/two-faced their party comes across as being.

Saskboy – Even when the Liberals were ahead of the Conservatives in January, I still had the order of the parties based on the voter support earned by each party in the last election. It’s nothing personal.
