The Paulitics polling resource has been updated.
The latest Strategic Council poll (available here) puts the Liberals up way ahead of the Conservatives for the first time since 2005. As a result of this poll, the Liberals now lead in both the weighted average and rolling average trend lines.
What is significant about this poll in my eyes is not that the Liberals got a boost from the leadership convention and Stéphane Dion’s victory, but rather that their boost was so small. The Liberals only gained about 4 or 5 percent since the last poll was released and what is more interesting, is that even with all the media attention surrounding them and their new optimistic and scandal-free leader, they still are unable to get into majority government levels of support.
Note that when the Greens selected their new leader, their party jumped approximately the same amount in the polls as the Liberals and the Green leadership convention wasn’t anywhere near as hyped up by the media as the Grits’ convention.
