And, yes kids you too can get a multi-million dollar renovation of your religious “school” from Stephen Harper just so long as you happen to own a religious school and happen to be of the same religion of the Prime Minister (and, presumably, happen to also hate “the gays”).

EDIT:
A very religous friend of mine pointed out to me elsewhere that this school is not technically “fundamentalist” since they do not necessarily subscribe to a belief in the inerrancy of the Bible. Rather, this school represents a non-fundamentalist type of über-conservative religious schools. While this obviously does not change the thrust of the issue at hand, I apologize for the error.

It’s nice that the Harper régime is giving 12 1/2 cents of my money to the Christian fundamentalist school. Cough, cough.
Meanwhile, the University of Calgary is set to slash 500 jobs…
This is insane. I’m mad. I read some of the indignant comments with the original article from fundies saying ‘we pay taxes too’ and that Canada doesn’t have ‘a law that separates church and state’, so maybe it’s time we institutionalize some of these constraints so that this kind of waste doesn’t happen again in the future.
I don’t know much about Newman Theological College, but St. Joseph’s seminary (catholic) is affiliated with it. Catholics range from left wing liberation theologists to Franco worshiping Opus Dei members, so characterising this institution as ultra conservative might be somewhat unfair.
And Harper is not Catholic, as we have seen by his gaffe (or his staff’s) with the host recently.
